Thank you to all sponsors and fans for your support and encouragement. Without you, not only would Evening Star Kennel been absent from the 2010 Yukon Quest, but this incredible sport and these wonderful dogs would become a thing of distant memory. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope that you have enjoyed following this amazing event.

Dog Truck or Lawn Ornament??

Yesterday, I thought I had lost my dog truck. Yes, I know it is bright blue and hard to miss. But I thought it was gone. Then I noticed a bit of blue through the jungle growing on the edge of the yard and realized it was still here. What a relief! I rescued it from the truck eating weeds and moved it to a safer place so it can continue its summer hibernation. It has to rest up for all the miles it's going to travel next winter to get to and from Alaska for the Quest.

It's 85 degrees here today and hard to believe that the target date for starting fall training is only 4 weeks away. The dogs will be happy to get back to work. Nobody wants to do much when it is this warm. I expect there will be a lot of scared dogs tonight when the fireworks start down on the lake tonight.

Even though summer is definitely occupying most of my thoughts, I am trying to turn my mind toward Yukon Quest plans every now and then. Time to raise some money and start collecting gear and equipment needed to make the trip. Lots of details to figure out and the race is just 7 months away. More on that later.
